As a first-generation, low-income student, I understand the numerous challenges that come with college, even when it’s virtual. As a transfer student, I am so excited to get to know my grade (and everyone on campus) even better as one of the senior apartment RAs. In my free time, I love to go to the beach, thrift, birdwatch, and of course hang out with friends and meet new people! I’m always up for a hoops conversation, so feel free to come talk to me anytime!

He rose to prominence earlier this year, winning the New York City Democratic Mayoral primary in June. Zohran Mamdani is a democratic socialist and candidate for mayor of New York City. Kristol, the son of famed conservative intellectual Irving Kristol, was born and raised in New York City. In an interview with The Forum on October 9th, Bill Kristol told Dhriti Jagadish and Shiv Parihar that he would vote for Zohran Mamdani if he were a resident of New York City. Even though we’re only one month into our virtual first semester, this class already means a lot to me.

I’m excited to help make our dorm feel like home and am pumped to be working with Kate (my co-RA) to plan some awesome events. If I am not in Crown, you’ll see me at Ath tea with a chocolate strawberry, at the library, or collecting sloth and cat paraphernalia for my dorm! At CMC, I am majoring in PPE-Gov, and I have an intermittent sequence in imposter syndrome.

In my public policy class’s election debrief that evening, our professor asked why we thought Trump won. In fact, the post was meant to do the opposite, reminding us to love our neighbors, even when we disagree with them. One Instagram follower responded, “Is this a joke? I also reposted something last Wednesday, “No matter who is president, Jesus is King.” 25 of my peers had unfollowed me by the next day. At CMC, I have felt empowered to embrace controversial opinions.

I got to see people with last names like mine hold political office, lead businesses, and serve as community leaders. I’m Zane Yamamoto and I’m running to be your first-year class president. With that in mind, feel free to message me any time– and vote for me this weekend for FYCP! I want to be the mouthpiece for our class’ issues and wishes, so I plan on taking the initiative to talk with every single first-year. In high school, I worked for the community engagement program at a local museum and successfully led clubs like Speech and Debate, Model UN, and Mock Trial. CMC students deem the new data science major as “very admirable and a necessary step for CMC to remain a leading national liberal arts college,” according to David Roman ‘22, a current public policy major with a data science sequence. “Teaching a data science course like Econ 160 involves a lot more in-class lab work, where professors present a lecture and students operate software in class,” said Batta in response to the differences between teaching a traditional accounting course and Accounting Data Analytics. While the data science major is intended to make students experts in that realm, CMC will continue to offer the data science sequence but plans to change its name to distinguish it from the major. However, the sequence offers students familiarity with data science.” In other words, CMC intends the sequence to be interdisciplinary, as students must also complete a major. The data science major will prepare students for a data-driven world with machine intelligence.”

We have to innovate, improvise, and improve upon the structures and systems already in place to create a CMC community that thrives digitally and feels like home to students from all walks of life. It’s impressive when first-year students step out of their comfort zones, especially by doing things such as running for class president! I’m an economics-accounting major, but in my free time, I love spending time outdoors, reading books, and playing or watching various sports.

For fun, I love trying new crafting skills — sewing and crocheting are my current favorites. Outside of basketball, I love hanging out with friends, playing video games and board games, and spending time outdoors. Basketball is a passion of mine, and I love watching it both at the college level and in the NBA (especially when Kevin Durant is playing).

In my free time, you’ll find me hanging out with friends, on a late night walk, or working on an arts and crafts project. One of my favorite things about CMC is the community, and I’m really looking forward to contributing to helping make Wohlf feel like home for cmc markets review everyone as an RA.
